On November 11, Susan Hopgood, the Federal Secretary of the Australian Education Union (AEU) of the Education International (EI), Nakamura Yuzuru, EI Asia-Pacific Regional Chair, Aloysius Mathews, Chief Regional Coordinator in EI's Asia-Pacific Regional Office, Eto Sohei, international department director at the Japan Teachers' Union (JTU) and their delegations visited KFTA for a meeting with KFTA president Ahn Yang-ok and enjoyed dinner together.
The EI president attended major meetings held under the G20 Labor Union Summit as a part of the Trade Union G20 Summit organized by the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) and the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, and then visited
KFTA for a meeting on educational agenda at home and abroad.
At the meeting, KFTA president Ahn Yang-ok asked the EI to strive for enhancing the expertise of teachers worldwide and the quality of public education. President Ahn also asked the EI as an international teachers' organization to play a central role to analyze the educational systems and conditions in each country and provide information to member organizations. Various issues were dealt including the educational conditions and budget in Korea, encouraging KFTA's teachers to take part in politics, ban on the corporal punishment and teachers' evaluation.
